I’m an avid podcast listener but there are some tried and true business books that friends have suggested as must-reads and I’m so glad I read them. Some of these books might be gathering dust on your bookshelf from a recent recommendation list. . .but can you even remember what they were about? I hope this list gives you a chance to learn about each book in a bite-sized way so that you could choose the next book to help with your unique teacher business growth journey.
Every month on Your Win-Win Teacher Business I’ll share about a new book so make sure you’re tuning into the show on Mondays and you might want to bookmark this post to revisit it as the book list grows.

Zen Guitar
I might be the only one suggesting this as a business book, but I got my start in the music world first so I wanted to share this incredible book with my teacher business besties for sure.

The 12 Week Year
I promise this isn’t just a rebrand of the well known quarterly planning concept. It truly brings a fresh mindset to a 12 week sprint and why you might want to leverage one within your business. This wasn’t my favorite book to read but the 12 week sprint is an impactful tool in my toolbox of strategies.

Obsessed: Building A Brand People Love From Day One
If you want to hear all about how the modern brands you are obsessed with built branding that stands out in the crowd, then this book should fly to the top of your TBR list.
The Secret
This one is woo woo but I encourage you to give it a try. At one time, you bravely believed in big dreams and the fact that you could have a big win during your life. If you didn’t believe that in your heart, you wouldn’t have started your teacher business.

Profit First
Is this business serving you by delivering a consistent paycheck that makes you feel properly compensated for all the effort that you are pouring into it? Profit First is a fantastic book about handling the financial side of running a business and it’s a staple for all teacher business owners in my opinion.

Your World-Class Assistant
What can a virtual support provider do to amplify your business efforts? What is it like running your business with support team members? This book gives a unique peek inside both roles to bring clarity on what a win-win hiring experience looks like and how to achieve it. Your World-Class Assistant is a great read to bring clarity on the right size team for your business.
Staying Solo: Your Guide to Building a Simple and Sustainable Service Business
Looking at the title, you might not be sure if this book is a match for you, but that’s exactly why I wanted to share it. Your algorithm might never serve up the author, Maggie Patterson, but she’s a seasoned online business owner with a powerful message. She has run a business solo. She has hired a team. She knows how to quiet the news of what everyone else says is “the right way to run a business” and find clarity on what YOU want, and you know I’m all about that journey on this podcast.
Staying Solo is filled with incredible reflection questions that can help you get closer to making sure your business is a win-win. Given the number of helpful charts, graphics, and supplementary resources that this book includes, I would suggest a physical or Kindle copy over audio for this one but the author also had some great podcast content that you can dive deeper into after reading the book if you want to connect with her through the power of audio.
